Prose Meets Poetry, with Lucy Wadham and Sharon Black

Dates: Fri 23 – Fri 30 September 2022

Cost: £380 course + 615€ (accommodation and meals)

Join Faber author Lucy Wadham and Pindrop publisher Sharon Black for a week combining poetry and prose to enrich the craft of both.

For poets, this is an opportunity to explore how narrative and other prose techniques can develop and expand your writing of poetry.

For prose writers, it is a chance to develop a more lyrical, more imagistic edge to your narratives, whether in fiction or in memoir.

Metaphor, compression and story are valuable tools for all genres of creative writing. This retreat will be an opportunity to experiment with form and content and to look at how another genre can inform our writing.

Morning sessions 10h -13h will consist of writing prompts and shared writing time and end with an optional prompt to work on during the day. Afternoon sessions 17h - 18h will be for feedback: depending on the number of participants, we will either focus on short pieces of work from everyone, or work on a rota basis.

The maximum number of participants is 14.

Lucy and Sharon will also be able to offer 1-1 mentoring to anyone who has work-in-progress they would like professional feedback on for an additional cost.
